2010 Conference Overview

Frame Australia is the major national event for the structural timber and pre-fabrication industries, presenting a wide range of topics around the theme “Housing Construction and Sustainability”, at the next conference to be held at Sofitel Melbourne on Monday and Tuesday, June 21 and 22, 2010.

The conference provides a unique opportunity for producers, distributors and suppliers of timber and wood products, frame & truss fabricators, building designers, specifiers, residential builders and developers to be brought together for presentations and discussion on highly relevant subjects.

Government policies are now emerging on a global basis to combat climate change, leading to sustainability requirements in future building regulations having a major impact on dwelling construction and the potential use of wood products. Topics will cover international and local building design developments for energy efficiency and sustainability to meet increasing regulations for environmental performance.

Speakers will also give insight into the impending Life Cycle Assessment for all building materials and the process for assessment of sustainability performance, along with the Chain of Custody management of the supply chain required from forests through to the residential builder.

The program includes new and updated Australian Standards and building regulations that will have influence on structural loadings and designs, and regulations introduced for pre-fabricated timber products. Recent bushfire codes applying to buildings will also be presented with requirements for both the builder and suppliers of timber products.

In-depth sessions will cover topics relating to design and manufacture of wall frames and roof trusses, including new global design software developments and trends to offshore estimating services. Plant management sessions will cover Work Health and Safety issues both in the plant and on-site, management of productivity improvements, and the analysis of production equipment performance.

The large attendance at Frame Australia conferences over the past 10 years, plus the highly topical content of the 2010 program will ensure attendance by some 300 delegates representing over 100 companies in Australia, New Zealand and the Asian-Pacific region.

An important feature of the conference is the sponsors exhibition and display area, where delegates have the opportunity to interact with conference sponsors on their products and services available.
