Two champions of innovation in the construction industry will discuss timber building systems of the future in the final session at Frame Australia 2016, with the theme "Think differently and find innovative solutions for multi-residential timber construction".

Rob Pradolin, formerly General Manager Business Development with Australand/Frasers Property Australia has been an active proponent for change, and led the team building the first 5 storey timber framed apartment building in Australia, The Green in Parkville. 

Rob commented “New ideas get me excited, thinking differently and challenging the status quo. I believe we need to push ourselves outside our normal paradigms of thinking if we want to achieve real change, find new solutions to existing problems, and achieve great results.

“We thought differently about how to build apartments at a lower cost and created multi-level timber construction resulting with a cost saving of nearly 25% per apartment over conventional concrete”.

David Haller, National Operations Manager of the Masterplanned Communities construction division at Mirvac will also participate in the discussion.

David has been an inspirational leader within the construction industry has consistently looked to improve the efficiency of the construction business through well planned innovations, and was selected as one of the first “Innovation Champions” in the Mirvac Group.

David said “Mirvac partnered with CSR to prototype a new construction methodology through engineered prefabricated wall and floor systems, with a successful prototype trial concept in Sydney that experienced amazing results.

 “This has led to an entire 300 home development now being built with this same concept to reduce delivery times by up to 50%, and achieve significant reduction in carbon content intensity through Life Cycle Assessment, improved quality and performance and reduction of health and safety risk on site”.
