Frame 2019 record attendance expected

March 27, 2019

Frame Australia has come of age: the event is now 21 years old and has moved to a new venue twice the size of the previous location to hold a larger number of delegates and displays due to rapidly rising popularity of engineered wood construction.

Conference Director Kevin Ezard said “Based on massive attendance growth at other international conferences in North America and Europe, we expect record numbers to make the Frame 2019 event the biggest yet with some 400 attendees.

“The event program should entice the building design and construction sector to be the largest group of delegates due to the rapidly rising interest in timber and mass wood construction around Australia, with major projects planned or underway in most states”.

Monday speaker session presentations will provide an extensive overview of timber frame and mass wood offsite construction, with topics outlining how to achieve improved productivity, quality, safety and sustainability for residential and commercial buildings.

Sessions will include some of the world’s leading experts along with highly respected local speakers including David Chandler OAM, Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Smart Modern Construction at Western Sydney University

Professor Chandler will kickstart the conference sessions in ‘Building the future’ with a presentation on ‘How the Australian construction industry will look by 2030’ with observations pointing to an industry that will be radically different in the next decade.

It will undergo huge disruption and transformation, with dramatic improvements in completion times, offsite work levels, productivity, waste reduction and less lost time.

In the session on ‘Manufacturing’ a presentation ‘Panelisation is the next leap forward in housing’ recent developments in manufacture of panel systems for housing, plus the use of robotics to maintain high quality and reduced skilled labour requirements.

Randek Sweden joint presenters will be Ola Svensson, Managing Director, and Ola Skoglund, General Manager Robotic division, who are acknowledged as leaders in these emerging technologies.

Tuesday morning Panel Sessions will discuss building projects using timber offsite construction systems, with key participants a combination of the developer, designer, specifier, builder, fabricator and building materials suppliers.

Tuesday afternoon Workshops will feature parallel sessions on key issues and critical steps for timber offsite design and construction. Specialised experts will provide topic outlines followed by open discussion with delegates.

SmartStruct Solutions is again the Principal Partner following its successful debut in that role last year. As a division of Tilling Timber, it specialises in collaborative timber building solutions with a comprehensive range of engineered wood systems to ensure the most cost-effective project outcomes.
